Health Taxes and NCD Prevention
Health taxes are fiscal measures designed to reduce the consumption of harmful products such as tobacco, alcohol, and unhealthy foods, while generating revenue that can strengthen health systems. By discouraging unhealthy behaviours and creating healthier environments, these policies are powerful tools for preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
This webinar, organized by the JA PreventNCD work package on regulation and taxation (WP5) explores the evidence behind health taxation, highlighting its health and economic benefits, and showcasing how Member States can use it as part of a broader strategy for NCD prevention.
