Enhancing Organizational Health Literacy in Health Care: New Factsheet Available

Header Factsheet

We are pleased to announce the release of a new factsheet: "Enhancing Organizational Health Literacy in Health Care: Insights from a Mapping of National Activities and Expert Interviews." This factsheet presents key findings from Task 7.4.4, which explores how health care organizations can improve their responsiveness to health literacy (HL) needs. Through mapping national research, policy, and practice and conducting expert interviews across six countries, this work identifies both challenges and facilitating factors in advancing organizational health literacy (OHL). Key highlights:

  • Overview of OHL policy frameworks, available tools, interventions, as well as evaluation and monitoring in different countries.
  • Factors influencing the adoption of OHL in health care settings.
  • The role of leadership, staff education, and patient engagement in fostering OHL.

By strengthening OHL, health care organizations can improve access, communication, and patient-centered care, particularly for individuals with cancer and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
